We are incredibly proud to announce that Sitback is now officially a Certified B Corporation. This milestone has been years in the making, and it represents not just a badge of honour, but a deep commitment to doing business as a force for good.

What is B Corp Certification?

B Corp Certification is awarded to companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It recognises businesses that balance profit with purpose, working to create a positive impact on people, communities, and the planet. Think organisations like Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, Keep Cup, R.M. Williams, The Guardian, and Young Henrys.

B Corps undergo rigorous assessments to demonstrate their commitment to these values across multiple areas of impact, ensuring they meet high ethical and sustainability standards.

The journey to becoming a B Corp

Achieving B Corp certification is no small feat—it demands dedicated focus, which can be challenging when juggling competing priorities. The process involves compiling extensive documentation to validate compliance and demonstrate a true commitment to purpose-driven business. Our journey began nearly five years ago, and the rigorous assessment required us to measure and evidence our impact across multiple areas of our operations.

We were fortunate to work with Kirsty Simmonds, a consultant who guided us through the process. When we first spoke to Kirsty, she told us that we already looked and behaved like a B Corp – the challenge was simply proving it! That validation gave us the motivation to push through the extensive application process and get certified.

What B Corp measures

To become a B Corp, we were assessed across five key impact areas:

  • Governance: Ensuring transparency, ethical decision-making, and accountability in how we operate.
  • Workers: Creating a supportive workplace culture that prioritises employee growth, wellness, and diversity.
  • Community: Actively engaging with and giving back to the communities we operate in.
  • Environment: Reducing our environmental impact through sustainable business practices.
  • Customers: Delivering services that positively impact our clients and their customers while maintaining high ethical standards.
B Corp measures 5 areas of impact: Governance, Workers, Environment, Community and Customers.

Make things better by making better things

As a digital agency, we’ve always believed in using our skills and expertise to make a positive difference. Our B Corp certification reflects the many ways we contribute to a better world, including:

  • Designing and building more accessible digital products – We ensure that the websites and applications we create meet WCAG compliance standards, making digital experiences accessible to all users and driving equity.
  • Optimising website performance – More efficient websites require less data transfer, reducing energy consumption from data centres to end-user devices.
  • Engaging with the community – We share our knowledge through webinars, speaking events, and industry collaborations to inspire others to prioritise inclusivity and sustainability.
  • Protecting our team – We foster a workplace culture that prioritises well-being, career growth, and diversity.
  • Working with ethical suppliers – We carefully choose vendors and partners who align with our values.
  • Giving back through charitable donations – Our internal Love Box initiative sees us making monthly contributions to charities, supporting causes that matter to our team.

Leave the world in a better state than we found it

At Sitback, we aim for at least 50% of our work to be with “For Purpose” clients – charities, not-for-profits, and commercial organisations dedicated to making a positive impact. By actively seeking partnerships with mission-driven organisations, we ensure that our work contributes to a better world.

Over 50% of our work is “for purpose”. This means we actively seek to partner with charities, not-for-profits and commercial organisations that have a positive impact on our world, e.g., Lifeline, ReachOut, Starlight, University of Sydney, and NSW Environmental Protection Agency.

Our mission has always been clear: to create and inspire exceptional experiences for our clients, their customers, and our people. And our vision remains the same: to enable a world of effortless connection, meaningful engagement, and positive social change, creating people-centric solutions that are respectful of our environment.

B Corp Certification is not just something we’ve achieved – it’s who we are. It aligns with our purpose, our passion, and the values we hold dear.

Sitback mission: We exist to create and inspire exceptional experiences for our clients, their customers, and our people.

This is just the beginning

“This milestone has been five years in the making and is a testament to how much we’ve grown as a business and how deeply we care about doing things the right way.”Chris McHugh, CEO

“B Corp certification is more than just recognition; it’s about holding ourselves to the highest standards of purpose and impact. This certification reflects who we’ve become as a company. Over the years, we’ve evolved – expanding what we do and how we do it, always keeping the bigger picture in mind. Becoming a B Corp feels like the natural next step in our journey, aligning with the values, mission, and vision that guide us every day.”

“At the same time, we recognise that this is just the beginning. There’s always more work to be done, and we embrace the opportunity to continue growing and evolving. This milestone marks the start of an exciting new chapter as we strive to make an even greater impact together. Over the coming weeks, months, and years, I encourage you to get involved, share your ideas, and help us keep driving positive change.”

“Thank you all for being part of this journey – this achievement is something we’ve accomplished as a team, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built together.”
